I think it is safe to say we all look forward to our Summer Holidays every year; this makes it all the more important to make the most out of your Trip. Here are a few things that can help:

Pack Smart

If you are planning a trip to Ireland have a think about the kind of activities you will be doing. As the beach is never too far away while in Ireland it is always a good idea to pack the essentials. The beaches are beautiful and well worth visiting in any weather but as the weather can be unpredictable maybe pack a hoodie as well as your swimwear!

If intending to do quite a bit of sightseeing inevitably comfortable shoes will most definitely be needed. In Waterford; the Greenway is a fantastic way to see the beautiful scenery in ‘The Sunny South East’ either by foot or by bike. The greenway is 46km walking/cycling track of stunning views of the countryside and the coast in the South East of Ireland.

Do New Things

To make the most of your trip to Ireland; do something new, this will make it more memorable and the sense of achievement of doing something new or out of your comfort zone will make your trip all the more special! For example, why not try Canoeing or Kayaking?!

There are a number of places to go to do this dotted around the country but there is one in particular near Borris in Co Carlow (less than an hour from Waterford); ‘Go with the Flow River Adventures’ has lots of choice as to what you can do and you are sure to get a thrill from taking part in one of the many activities that they offer.

Take a Guided Tour

Ireland is steeped in history, with numerous castles dotted around the country such as The Rock of Cashel in Tipperary. You may have heard about all the fabulous things you can do in Ireland- Kiss the Blarney Stone, do the Ring of Kerry, Visit Kilkenny Castle, visit the various brewery’s however it is fair to say that all these visits can be enhanced by taking a guided tour.

The guided tours tend to be inexpensive. If choosing Waterford as your base; there are plenty of Waterford business and leisure hotels to choose from. In Waterford; there are really good guided tours that you can take such as The tour of The Viking Triangle. It is the only tour in Ireland that gives you access to six national monuments and all in 45 minutes. The tour gives an overview of Irish history both historic and archaeological treasures.

Rent A Car

Ireland is well known for its beautiful countryside and there is no better way to get around than by driving. It means that you can stop in places that you may not otherwise get to see and get to travel the route that you want rather than relying on public transport.

It is relatively easy to travel around, and often towns tend to be located close together so there is always something new to see no matter what part of the country you are in. The advantage of having your own method of transport is that you can follow your own time schedule and so your holiday will be more relaxed.
