Planning a little trip away; Waterford is a good choice! There is loads to see and do over the next couple of months; below are just a few that we have picked:

Theatrical shows

If you enjoy comedy shows; the Theatre Royal is hosting the popular comedian Jason Byrnes’s show; ‘You can come in but don’t say anything’. The show is on the 18th April. The Theatre Royal is situated on The Mall in the centre of Waterford and is popular with locals and visitors to the area; you can be sure there is always something on to entertain you. Joanne McNally another comedian comes to the Central Arts Centre on 25th April. The Central Arts is a community arts company and is located in the historic Viking Triangle again; in the centre of Waterford. The Central Arts Centre often holds shows and these are also very affordable. If Comedy isn’t your thing there is still plenty to entertain you in Irelands oldest City!

Other shows that are upcoming at The Theatre Royal are Jake Carter (Pop Singer) on the 19th April. Jake will have a live band and will be showcasing his latest music.  Tommy Flemming brings his ‘The Voice of Hope Tour II’ on 25th April which offers a section of spiritual and inspirational songs and some of his best known hit such as ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘The Isle of Inishfree’.

Easter Family Breaks

Easter family breaks are always a favourite and so it is important to mention the The Easter Egg Trail will take place over the 3 days of the Easter Weekend Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd The trail takes place at Mount Congreve Gardens which is on the outskirts of Waterford and less than 5km from The Viking Hotel. Mount Congreve Gardens is a beautiful place to visit with around seventy acres of intensively planted woodland garden and a four acre walled garden. The Easter egg hunt offers family tickets (2 adults and 2 kids for €20 and an additional €3 per extra child) which include entry to the gardens, and easter egg trail map and an Easter egg for each child. The gardens are open from 11am-5.30pm with last access to the gardens at 4.30pm. On Sunday 21st there is a small additional charge but this includes a bouncy castle, face painting & meeting the Easter Bunny.

Things To Do

The Copper Coast Geopark is an outdoor museum of Geological records it stretches along the coast from Kilfarassy Beach, near Fenor to the east to Ballyvoile beach near Stradbally to the West. A real gem for Waterford and well worth a visit. The Geoparks Visitor Centre Open Day takes place on the 26th May at 11am. On the day there will be free entry all day the café will be serving tea & coffee as well as delicious, homemade lunch options. There will be other fun activities available too such as free entry to the mining, geology and heritage exhibition, minors photobooth, Tombola, Market Stalls and a geology talk and workshop.

WIT Arena hold some great events; Ireland ONLY Reptile Expo- will be taking place at the arena on the 14th July from 11.30am-5pm. There will be all kinds of reptiles there on the day as well as a tattooist, Body Piercer, face painting, kids colouring competition and other stalls. There will also be a restaurant there if you start to get a bit peckish!
