Mount Congreve Gardens

Waterford is packed with history and beauty. We’re delighted to see the reopening of the gorgeous Mount Congreve Gardens after some upgrades last year. Open year-round, the gardens are a haven for plant and history lovers offering some truly wonderful walks and trails. Enjoy a stroll around Ambrose’s World Gardens to enjoy around seventy acres of woodland, a four-acre walled garden, and 16km of walkways. There are several walks to enjoy while you’re here like the 55-minute Woodland Walk or the Fragrant Walk taking you through changing fragrances as you walk through varieties of flowers. Discover how herbs, vegetables & fruit trees are grown on an easy stroll through the kitchen garden and take some knowledge home with you.

We all know that the changeable Irish weather doesn’t always suit our plans. We’re well used to rainy days in Waterford and there are plenty of things to do indoors while you stay dry. Visit the House of Waterford Crystal, The Bishops Palace Museum, the Waterford Medieval Museum, or a local cathedral to shelter from the rain and learn a little about our history. Markets in Waterford

Warmer weather brings the return of local markets, a popular weekend pastime for locals and visitors alike. Markets are where our local producers and retailers take centre stage, selling their food, crafts, and accessories to lucky passers-by. Waterford City Food and Craft Market is one of the largest and takes place on Saturdays from 10am-4pm in Waterford city. It’s a tasty way to spend an afternoon. Dungarvan Farmers Market takes place every Thursday, Apple Market comes to the city center on a Friday, and Phoenix Yard Market takes over O’Connell Street on a Saturday. On Sundays, you have your pick of markets with everything from crafts and food to car boot sales across the county. Keep an eye on local groups for the latest market news.
