We’re delighted to share that The Viking Hotel Waterford has officially been awarded 4 star Classification by Fáilte Ireland. This recognition means a great deal to our entire team and reflects the care, pride and hospitality we bring to every guest who walks through our doors.
A New Chapter for The Viking Hotel
Over the past year, we have been working behind the scenes to transform the hotel. The refurbishment began with upgrades to our restaurant and lobby, followed by improvements to the exterior of the building, and most recently the redesign of our guest bedrooms and conference spaces. With the support and investment of the Kelly family, our owners, these works have brought new life to the hotel and created a fresh, modern and welcoming atmosphere.
The result is a contemporary space that offers the comfort and warmth our guests know us for, combined with an elevated standard that reflects the very best of Irish hospitality.
Our Team Makes the Difference
While the physical changes have been exciting, it is our people who truly define The Viking Hotel. Friendly, genuine and attentive service has always been our hallmark, and it is something guests mention time and time again.
Our recognition as a Fáilte Ireland Employer Excellence hotel and our certification as a Great Place to Work reinforces the positive culture we have created. A strong and supported team leads to a better guest experience, and these achievements played an important role in securing our new 4 star rating.
To celebrate this milestone, we welcomed our owners Noeleen and Noel Kelly to the hotel, along with Paul Dempsey, COO of PREM Group. Their continued support and commitment to the hospitality industry have played a major role in the hotel’s development, and we are grateful for the trust and investment they continue to place in The Viking Hotel.
On celebrating the 4 star classification, our General Manager, Karen Dollery said;

I want to thank the local community who join us for meals, celebrations and get togethers, as well as the businesses who use our conference facilities.
