Waterford City Heritage

A walking tour of Waterford City is a must. Make Waterford Crystal your first stop, enjoying the factory tour,  learning how glass is blown or simply browse the beautiful pieces on display in the shop. Watch the skilled craftspeople making the iconic crystal masterpieces in person and pick up a souvenir for your fireplace. Next, cross the road to the Viking Triangle, where you can learn more about the Viking invasion of the city in Reginald’s Tower, Bishops Palace, and The Medieval Museum. This area is a history lovers’ dream. Finish off with a visit to the newest museum in Waterford, The Silver Museum, the only dedicated Irish silver museum.

Waterford Greenway

Waterford is a fantastic place for lovers of the great outdoors. Bring or rent a bike and enjoy the Waterford Greenway on your visit, a 46 km off-road stretch packed with fantastic scenery and history. You can walk or cycle some or all of the path, depending on your fitness levels. Take a journey through time and nature across eleven bridges, three viaducts and a 400m long tunnel that runs from the river to the sea. Take your time exploring Viking settlements, a Norman castle, deserted railway stations, an Ice Age rock with apparent mythical powers and so much more. The Viking hotel is just 2km from the WIT Arena, our closest entry spot to the greenway. If you choose to bring your own bicycle, you can store it securely in our bike store; ‘The Greenway Hub’
