This motorway can get you anywhere in Ireland making The Viking Hotel an ideal base when attending meetings in Waterford and surrounding areas.

Aside from it being a sophisticated, convenient and professional venue to host corporate meetings, the Viking Hotel has become home to many corporate travellers as they find the location ideal for the business ventures they may have in or around Waterford City. The Waterford Industrial Estate

With the Waterford Industrial Estate in close proximity, The Viking Hotel houses many top executives who oversee projects and businesses in the area making it an extremely convenient location.

The Waterford University Hospital and The Whitfield Clinic

We are also home to many professionals in the medical field as the Waterford University Hospital and the Whitfield Clinic are very close by. The Viking Hotel is located approximately 5.5km away from University Hospital Waterford. This hospital is where medical students from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and University College Cork perform their clinical placement. It is also one of eight HSE designated cancer centres. The Viking Hotel is just a five minute walk from Whitfield Clinic. A state-of-the-art hospital that serves both public and private patients in the South-East of Ireland. Many patients and staff often use our facilities for overnight visits, or conferences and meetings.

Entertainment and Leisure

When the business day comes to an end travellers may want to relax and unwind, or possibly get a souvenir or two. The Viking Hotel resides a close distance to the Waterford Retail Park a 14,000 sq.m park full of shops including the only Harvey Norman store in the south east of Ireland, as well as Maxi Zoo, Halfords, Hickeys and Homestore. A variety of dining facilities are also available at the park.

Perhaps you have heard of the world renowned Waterford Crystal or the Viking Triangle? Many travel from afar to visit these two destinations and the Viking Hotel is located close by to both of them. One of the most unique experiences to partake in when in Waterford is visiting its world renowned Waterford Crystal factory. Originally founded by George and William Penrose in 1783, Waterford crystal is best known for its quality and beauty. When Beethoven was publishing his first works and the world’s first hot air balloon took place in Paris, the Penrose’s were busy petitioning Parliament for aid to establish the manufacture of flint glass in their Waterford Glass House. They were successful and established an extensive glass factory in Waterford city on the 3rd October 1783. Have you seen someone blow molten crystal into a vase? Check out the factory tours and be guided through the factory to see experienced craftsmen at work, creating new crystal pieces

The Waterford Viking Triangle is part of the cultural and heritage area in Waterford City. It is called the triangle because of the 1000 year old Viking walls which once surrounded it. The most popular building in the triangle is Reginald’s Tower, which also contains the Viking Museum, the Medieval Museum and the Bishop’s Palace Museum, or collectively known as the Waterford Museum of Treasures. It is a must see when visiting Waterford City.

Whether you are travelling on business or leisure the Viking Hotel is in a prime location for Waterford and its adjoining cities suitable for any visitor.

It has been a busy year for The Viking Hotel and ending on a high with our new look hotel just around the corner! Our Restaurant and Bar is currently undergoing a massive facelift. A welcome change the colours of the Bar and Restaurant will be contemporary with clean lines and soft furnishings which are set to be so inviting! The Restaurant is always busy offering fresh wholesome food at an affordable price this hasn’t changed thankfully, but; in time, the surroundings will and all for the better.

Thankfully our customers are super understanding of the situation the lobby has been transformed into the temporary Food & Beverage area. This may be due to the face that the Viking Hotel staff have transformed the lobby to a Christmas Wonderland with lights tastefully done; you can’t help but feel Christmassy while enjoying some good food. It does help that works carried out are completed by 5pm each day and are non – existent on Saturdays & Sundays.

There is no doubt that there has been some disturbance from the temporary Bar and Restaurant to our loyal business groups that use our two largest meeting rooms however this will be short lived. When the first phase of the refurbishment is completed in February 2019 then our attention will turn to the Lobby where this will be changed to match the look and feel of our beautiful Bar & Restaurant. Our Meeting rooms will be back to normal; customers will then be able to enjoy our new Bar and Restaurant while still enjoying free parking and Wifi. We are looking forward to another busy year in 2019!
